CMC Partnership has been named as the fastest-growing firm in financial and business services in Wales for the second year running.
The announcement was made in front of a packed audience of business and public administration managers at the prestigious annual Fast Growth 50 Awards ceremony in Cardiff.
The Fast Growth 50, now in its eleventh year and based on company turnover, was created by Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, one of the country’s leading economic commentators, to spotlight the star performers in Wales, described as ‘business success to which entrepreneurs across Wales aspire’.
Profiling CMC – the eleventh overall fastest-growing firm in Wales which has also been shortlisted for the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 List - the Fast Growth team said, “Since its inception in 2000, CMC has experienced progressive year-on-year growth.
“To ensure its services remain undiluted, it has developed robust processes and procedures along with strong corporate governance. It attributes its success to three main factors: customer focus, recruitment and supply chain management expertise, and staff development.”
The narrative to the award goes on to recognise that, due to the stringent conditions of the public sector procurement process – a major area of work for the consultancy – CMC has to compete against national and international contract-bidders for every new piece of business.
It notes that in three years’ time, CMC forecasts it will have a turnover of around £23 million and will be focused on providing dedicated services to a dozen large, core customers – Government and public sector bodies – with whom it has developed a close working relationship based on trust, people qualities and effectiveness.
CMC Director Rhiannon Cooke says, “We are delighted that CMC’s continuing development and success has again been recognised by the business community. We are proud that a small consultancy launched in Wales has grown in a comparatively short time to become one of the leading specialists in its field in Britain.
“Major strategic, operational and technical change within an organisation – how it is designed, programmed, managed and implemented - is a sophisticated, critical process. Get it wrong and it can cause costly and lasting damage - to services, productivity and employee relations. That is why more and more organisations are relying on experienced, external support. This will be all the more vital in the public sector where the need to reduce costs is paramount particularly in the light of the Treasury’s Forward Public Value Programme.
“At the Fast Growth 50 Awards, the Welsh Assembly Government sponsored the Financial and Business Services category in recognition of the vital role these services play in the Welsh economy. Our award was therefore doubly pleasing because the Assembly Government is one of our major customers.”
Rhiannon added: “The growth of our business is a reflection of our customers’ satisfaction with both the results that we achieve and the approach that we take to working with them."
Full coverage of the 2009 Fast Growth 50 will appear in a special supplement, sponsored by the University of Wales Global Academy, in the Western Mail on Wednesday 4 November 2009.
