CMC's Rough Guide To The Art Of Effective Sponsorship

4 April 2012

CMC Directors, Michael Campbell & Chris Moore delivered a 60 minute masterclass at Gov Today's Efficiency and Productivity Conference, The Brewery London.

Working with actors from Corporate Drama, the masterclass shared CMC's Five Top Tips for Effective Sponsorship:

  • Share the vision.
  • Explain “What's In It For Me?”
  • Build a coalition for change.
  • Listen, and be open to dialogue & resistance.
  • Be ready to identify where additional work & difficulty may be experienced during implementation.

Using excerpts from Prosci’s 2012 Change Management Benchmarking Study CMC evidenced that effective leadership/sponsorship is consistently the number one obstacle to maximising the return on investment from business change projects.

The master class also referenced Prosci's Project Change Triangle, illustrating how essential it is for Sponsors of Change to make sure they are in the best position possible to lead those affected by business change before they commence moving employees from old ways of working to new.
